Solo Together is a free four day opportunity for 13-18 year olds who have lost a loved one to explore the wild in their own neighborhood, engage in creative activities to connect with nature and process their grief, and connect virtually with other grieving teens and skilled guides. Centralia Christian School will be hosting an informational night about its High School on Tuesday, May 4, at 6:30PM. This event is for parents of 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students throughout Lewis County who are interested in learning more about Christian education options for 9th and 10th grade. Middle and high school students are welcome to attend; childcare is available for younger children through pre-registration only. Where: Centralia’s Discovery Trail, at the end of Goodrich Rd, Centralia.
Parking for volunteers will be at the old barn (look for signs).
When: 9 AM until 12:30 PM, Wednesday, May 19th, 2021.
Please join in with Chehalis River Basin Land Trust volunteers, the Great Old Broads and others as we continue habitat restoration work along Centralia’s Discovery Trail from 9 am until 12:30 pm, Wednesday, May 19, 2021. (See: Discovery Trail along the Chehalis River (lewiscountytrails.org)) Please arrive early to sign the waiver.
We will be weeding around recently planted tree seedlings and removing some invasive plants. Sturdy gloves and suitable work clothes are recommended. We will have facemasks as well as some tools and gloves available at the site. Please feel free to bring your own tools if you’d like.

The number of participants for this event will be limited due to Covid-19 concerns. Face masks and social distancing will be required in accordance with the latest statewide guidelines in effect at the time of the event.

If you are a grieving teen, this is a hike for you. It’s teens only so you will be others who get it about grief, have a chance to see how Wild Grief facilitates connecting with nature, your grief and each other. No previous hiking experience needed. We will hike through mountain meadows full of wildflowers, and have breathtaking views of Mount Rainier and Edmonds Glacier. We expect the hike to last at least 5 hours with time to honor our grief and soak up the beauty.

Earth Day – Work Party at Chehalis River Discovery Trail

What: Earth Day Discovery Trail Work Party to repair recent flood damage.
Snacks and drinking water will be available (bring your own bottle).
Due to hazards left by the floods, this event is not suitable for young children.
You must pre-register for this event. See instructions below.
Where: Chehalis River Discovery Trail, 1545 Goodrich Rd, Centralia. Parking for high
ground clearance vehicles will be at the old barn (follow the signs). Rides will
be provided as needed from the trail’s regular lot at the treatment plant.
When: 9 AM until 12:00 noon, Friday, April 22nd, 2022. Masking is optional.

The Chehalis River Basin Land Trust will hold a Work Party at the Chehalis River Discovery Trail, near Centralia, from 9 am until 12 noon, on Wednesday, July 20th, 2022. We’ll be removing thistles, tansy and other invasive weeds from areas near the trail.
The Discovery Trail is at 1545 Goodrich Rd, Centralia. Follow the event signs to parking near the old red barn. Water, snacks, and other cold drinks will be provided (please bring your own bottle for water.).
Please dress for the weather and bring sturdy work gloves and footwear. We will have some garden tools and gloves available at the site but feel free to bring your own hand tools.
