Join us for an in-home virtual workshop! This short course is designed for beginning home gardeners who want to grow nutritious food. We will share ideas about how to design a low-cost, non-permanent, productive home garden! We are especially excited to work with those who have small yards and apartment balconies where creative space-efficient strategies can make it possible to have a home garden that provides fresh food and fun learning opportunities for all. Burnt Ridge Nursery founder Michael Dolan will lead a tour of our 20-acre organic fruit and nut orchard, with a focus on crops that ripen in the summer including blueberries, mulberries, and figs. Cultivation and propagation techniques will be discussed, as well as the specific characteristics of the varieties that do well here in the Pacific Northwest. Fruit samples and snacks will be provided to-go this year, and all events will be held outdoors in compliance with Washington state COVID guidelines. 2 tours: 10 am -noon and 1:30-3:30. Limit of 30 guests per tour. $15 per individual; $30 for a family (up to 4 people). Parking is limited, please carpool if possible.
