The Library – Importance of Books @ Historic Borst Home Museum

In the mid-19th century books were hard to come by. The Borst Family had a small section built into their home with books still in it from their time. Our guest speaker is Roy Matson, a Borst Home Museum Volunteer, will give a talk at 2:00 pm for 30 mins and answer questions about the importance of books.

Burnt Ridge Nursery Farm Tour @ Burnt Ridge Nursery

Burnt Ridge Nursery founder Michael Dolan will lead a tour of our 20-acre organic fruit and nut orchard, with a focus on crops that ripen in the summer including blueberries, mulberries, and figs. Cultivation and propagation techniques will be discussed, as well as the specific characteristics of the varieties that do well here in the Pacific Northwest. Fruit samples and snacks will be provided to-go this year, and all events will be held outdoors in compliance with Washington state COVID guidelines. 2 tours: 10 am -noon and 1:30-3:30. Limit of 30 guests per tour. $15 per individual; $30 for a family (up to 4 people). Parking is limited, please carpool if possible. Plants, produce, and preserves from our farm will be available to purchase after each tour. Tickets at www.burntridgenursery.com or 360-985-2873.

Native Amphibian Workshop with Lewis County Stream Team!

> Educational Workshop from 10:30AM-11:30AM at Chehalis Timberland Library (400 N Market Blvd)
> Wetland tour from 12:00-1:00PM at the City of Centralia ponds (Meet at North Gold Street & Ham Hill Rd in Centralia at the gravel parking lot)

Join WA Dept of Fish and Wildlife guest speakers Dr. Max Lambert, herpetologist and senior research scientist, and Julie Tyson, aquatic research biologist. Learn more about native amphibian species and habitat! After the talk, join us in the field to tour a local wetland. Learn how to identify amphibian egg masses and habitat requirements. Please bring rubber boots and hip waders if you have them. Please dress warm.
