Stream Team Tree Planting @ Wisner Creek Restoration Site

Join the Lewis County Stream Team to plant trees on Saturday, February 12 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM! We will be planting along Wisner Creek and Mill Creek to improve water quality and fish habitat. Enjoy the beauty of nature and learn about stream restoration projects, beavers as ecosystem engineers, and Coho salmon in the Chehalis River Basin! Work gloves and tools will be provided. The trail may be wet, please wear appropriate footwear. We will be following social distancing guidelines. For more information, please email Kenna.Fosnacht@lewiscdwa.com.

Directions: From I-5 take State Route 6 West towards Pe Ell Raymond. Stay
on SR 6 for two miles and take a right onto Chilvers Road. After one mile take
a right onto Jeffries Road. The parking lot will be marked and is on the right after
Glenview Drive. Look for the salmon signs.

Earth Day Work Party at Borst Park @ Fort Borst Park

Celebrate Earth Day! Work party at Borst Park on Saturday, April 23rd with Lewis County Stream Team and Noxious Weed Control.

What: Learn about noxious weeds and riparian zone management from professional guest speakers, take part in removing invasive Italian arum and replanting native species. Snacks, shovels, and work gloves will be provided. This is a great opportunity to see the changes at the park, connect with your community and give back to the environment for Earth Day 2022.

Where: Borst Park, 2030 Borst Ave, Centralia, WA 98531. Meet near the Borst Home located past the baseball fields.

When: Saturday, April 23rd from 10AM – 3PM.

What to Bring: Long sleeves and work boots are recommended. Optional to bring your own shovels and hand tools.

Who: Sponsored by Lewis County Noxious Weed Board, Centralia City Parks, Lewis County Stream Team, Master Gardeners, and Borst Arboretum Botanical Society. Native plants were donated by Buds and Blades Landscape Company.

Stream Team Grass Stomp

The Lewis County Stream Team planted trees along Mill Creek to improve water quality and enhance wildlife habitat. This spring the trees need our help to survive against the reed canary grass, which blocks out sunlight and nutrients. Join us Saturday to help cut and stomp grass in a circle around the trees. Show off your best dance moves!

Directions: 266 Jefferies Road, Chehalis, Washington. Meet at the gravel parking lot located on the right side after Glenview Lane. Look for the salmon signs.

**Work gloves and refreshments provided. Bringing your own tools is welcome. Please bring appropriate footwear for wet areas. This event is family friendly.

Join Biologists Curt Holt (WDFW) and Teal Waterstrat (USFWS) to learn about these lesser-known, fascinating species. Both mussels and lamprey play a key role in the ecosystem of the rivers and streams and have a rich history in the Pacific Northwest. Learn about the challenges they are facing to survive and how you can help them! This event is free and family friendly.
