Experience Chehalis and the Vernetta Smith Chehalis Timberland Library are proud to announce the dedication of the latest addition to the city’s growing art collection: a stunning wildflower-themed mural located at the library. The dedication ceremony will take place on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 4 p.m. in the library’s drive-thru area.

The mural, designed and painted by talented local artist Susan Clark, showcases the beauty of local wildflowers, bringing a vibrant splash of color and nature to the library. In addition to the flora, local wildlife has been cleverly hidden throughout the artwork, creating a fun, interactive “hide and seek” experience for all ages. Clark shared, “Hidden among the flowers are 26 Pacific Northwest animal silhouettes, some harder to spot than others.  Included is the neighbor cat, Felix, who often visits the library!”

“We’re excited to celebrate this beautiful tribute to the natural environment that surrounds Chehalis,” said Annalee Tobey, Experience Chehalis executive director. “The mural not only beautifies the space but also engages the community in a unique and playful way.”

Visitors are encouraged to attend the dedication and explore the artwork up close. The mural is located in the library’s drive-thru, making it accessible to patrons. After the ceremony, guests will have the opportunity to participate in a guided “wildlife hunt” to find the hidden animals within the mural.

The mural is part of Experience Chehalis’ ongoing efforts to celebrate the local culture and environment through art. For more information about the event or the mural, please contact Experience Chehalis.
