Cheering crowds, the smell of the exhaust, spectacular fireworks shows – all sure signs that racing season is fast approaching! Grays Harbor Raceway will open their gates for the first time in 2018 on April 21 at 5:30 p.m., with the event lasting from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Spectators at this event will feel the power of the races featuring tuners, modifieds, street stocks and sprint cars all on the fast track to making this season one of the best ones yet.

Raceway track manager Bert Johnson can already feel the excitement rising from the track. “The Grays Harbor Raceway offers an experience unlike anything I’ve ever been a part of,” explains Bert. As a former driver at Grays Harbor Raceway, Bert is always eager when another season at the track approaches. “It’s truly a place for fun for people of all ages. No matter the viewer, there’s a type of race that anyone can get excited to watch. Watching new and old fans come in from across the country is very fulfilling to see.”

Check out this season’s schedule at the Grays Harbor Raceway and discover the various styles of races that will run weekly throughout the year. Many of the events draw in vast crowds, often filling the enormous stadium to the brim that’s able to accommodate an upwards of 6,500 fans.

One of these events is a brand new class happening on May 12. This race will feature vintage modifieds – including many pre-WII car bodies – and will be the only one of its kind throughout the 2018 season. Other renowned events are the Rolling Thunder Big Rigs featuring 1,000 horsepower semi-trucks taking place on August 18, the World of Outlaws on September 3 and the always well-attended monster truck show, Monster Slam 18, on September 15 – 16.

A notable feature of the Grays Harbor Raceway is the racers’ friendly approach. “Our racers truly understand the significance of treating their fans with respect,” says Bert. “They go out of their way to sign autographs and greet fans of all ages that makes for a really personable atmosphere for fans at the raceway.”

Visitors can expect to watch racers from across Washington and the country, as well as cheer on some Grays Harbor locals. With the opening of another season, supporters of the raceway can also expect to see a lineup of fantastic fireworks shows that draw in huge crowds. The July 7 Q Mart Fireworks and Mid-Season Championship night will honor the birth of America, as well as another fireworks display that stands to end the car racing season in style scheduled for September 8.

One thing to take to account is that wet weather conditions can cause delays at the raceway, and unfortunately can cause cancellations. “We want our fans to always have the most current information and status of our races,” explains Steve Beitler, promotions company owner. “Please visit our website and like our official Facebook page to keep in the loop about all things pertaining to the raceway. With that in mind, we’re ecstatic to be bringing another racing season to the Harbor!”

Extend your visit to the Grays Harbor Raceway and stay overnight at one of the many campsites available at the Grays Harbor Fairgrounds. For all standard weekends throughout the season the cost is just $20 per space, per night. On the special World of Outlaw weekend the cost will be $25 per space, per night. Less stress and more fun all for a great deal!

Fans of the raceway can confirm that the atmosphere at the Grays Harbor Raceway will leave you longing for more. Coordinate a weekend with friends, family members and whoever else is looking for a good time. You’ll surely be left you with lasting memories for years to come.
