As COVID-19 cases begin to rise again in Lewis County, we encourage residents to continue doing their part to help slow the spread of the virus. The three Ws of infection control are some simple things we can all do to help. Washing our hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; wearing masks when we are around others outside of our homes; and watching our distance (staying six feet apart from those you don’t live with).
Today, we recorded 21 cases (confirmed and probable) of COVID-19 in Lewis County. So far this week, we have recorded 77 cases. This is up from 56 probable and confirmed cases the entire week of March 14 to 20, 2021 and 60 cases the week of March 28 to April 3, 2021. The rise in cases may be due to many factors including more transmissible variants of the virus spreading across the State. These numbers are not meant to shock residents, but to show that the COVID-19 virus is still very much around in our community.
There is hope on the horizon. Vaccine eligibility and access are increasing across Washington and starting April 15, everyone 16 and over will be eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine. Currently, Pfizer is the only COVID-19 vaccination that has emergency-use authorization for use in 16- and 17-year-olds.
We know the past year has been very difficult for everyone. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and desire to keep fellow residents safe and healthy.
