Lilly Robbins Brock will read from and discuss her historical fiction series based on a fictional family in the 1800s who travel from New York to the rugged Pacific Northwest on a paddle-wheel steamship via the South America route. The theme of this series was inspired by a journal that Lilly discovered while doing research about Olympia. The journal was written by a pioneer woman in 1855 in which she described her and her family’s journey to Washington Territory. Thus began the saga of her fictional family–the Bennetts. There are currently three books in the Bennett family series- “Intrepid Journey, An Untamed Frontier,” “Intrepid Journey, Perils in Paradise,” and “Intrepid Journey, A New Dawn.” Lilly is working on book 4.

Lilly was born and raised in Olympia, Washington, where her pioneer family homesteaded in the late 1800s. The plaque, which reads Robbins Road, on 6th Avenue in Lacey, is named after her family. She loves history, and one of her passions has been researching her family tree. Lilly has also written three nonfiction memoir/biographies to honor members of the “Greatest Generation” who served our country during World War II. She mentions her deceased father, who was a World War II veteran, in her first book.
