Come join us at the Sanctuary as Jester, a local mead maker, guides us through a workshop on the creation of mead, the world’s oldest form of fermentation.
Together, we will make a batch of mead from beginning to end and Jester will reveal the secrets behind every step of this age-old skill.
Cost of the workshop is $25.
From this workshop you will learn;
• Sanitization practices
• Yeast preparation
• Mixing initial must (must is the honey and water mixture)
• How to ferment mead properly
What you need to bring
For a 1 gallon carboy plus airlock, you will need to bring:
1 Towel to wrap carboy after class
1 gallon of jugged spring water.
3 lbs of honey (natural not creamed)
1-1.5lbs of desired fruit (if wanting a fruit mead) must bring own knife
(When using any size carboy, use above and calculate – a five gallon carboy will take five times the amount.)
I have 8-1 gallon carboys available for $15 a piece at the workshop. If you would like one of these please let me know.
