This community events calendar is the place to find fun activities and things to do throughout Lewis County, including Centralia, Chehalis and beyond.
Burnt Ridge Nursery founder Michael Dolan will lead a tour of our 20-acre organic fruit and nut orchard, with a focus on crops that ripen in the summer including blueberries, mulberries, and figs. Cultivation and propagation techniques will be discussed, as well as the specific characteristics of the varieties that do well here in the Pacific Northwest. Fruit samples and snacks will be provided to-go this year, and all events will be held outdoors in compliance with Washington state COVID guidelines. 2 tours: 10 am -noon and 1:30-3:30. Limit of 30 guests per tour. $15 per individual; $30 for a family (up to 4 people). Parking is limited, please carpool if possible. Kim Ashmore, City of Centralia’s Public Works Director, will be presenting on stormwater management in the Chehalis River Basin. Learn about the impacts of nonpoint pollution on water quality and salmon. Hear more about what you can do to prevent pollution runoff at your home!
Do you want to learn more about rain gardens? Join Stream Team and Bob Simmons from WSU Extension for a free workshop to learn the basics of designing and building your own rain garden. Rain gardens are a great tool for filtering stormwater pollutants before they reach streams! Learn about using native plants to create habitat for birds and pollinators.
