There’s more to pencil drawing than outlined shapes and basic shading. Learn how pencil drawings can be exacting works of art. All ages and skill levels are welcome.

How many times have you said the words…I’d like to be an artist but…? As an art teacher I’ve heard many people say them many, many times. Most people love to draw as kids but give it up when they get older. This doesn’t mean they can’t do good art, it just means they haven’t learned how. As with any skill, learning the basics is important and teaching people basic art skills is my specialty.
I’m teaching a beginning art class called, Pencil Basics. In two hours you’ll gain valuable foundation art skills that will serve you well, whether you’re a beginning artist or looking to fill in your skills set.
Why wait to learn how to draw? You don’t have to. Tuesday night is right around the corner.

Historian Lorraine McConaghy will begin this program with an illustrated introduction to the war’s themes. She will follow that with a Readers’ Theater script, to be read aloud by willing participants. The script covers the period between Prohibition, beginning in 1914, through Seattle’s 1919 General Strike and the visit of President Woodrow Wilson.
