If you want to grow better plants, you first need to understand the texture of your soil. Collect and bring in a sample of your soil and learn how to test for pH, Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium. Call 360-740-1216 to pre-register in advance so you have time to collect your soil sample.

The Learnings from the Chehalis Series features local professionals, talking about local nature. Join us for these FREE events!
This Month: Local plants and animals are already feeling the effects of climate change in our region, but how do our local bird populations fare? Kim Adelson, a member of the Black Hills Audubon Society and longtime professor, joins us in our NEW office for a cozy talk about how our local bird populations are changing as they feel the effects of climate change in our area, and what we can do to help our local avian wildlife! The lecture will be followed by ample time for questions and discussions with Kim, group discussion, and review of Kim’s resources.
Weekly event on Wednesdays from 1:00 – 1:50 p.m.
Looking for a group where you can discuss and discover Young Adult literature with other readers? Come and check us out! Bring a friend and 2 books you would like to suggest for our future club discussions! Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
The goal of this club is for young adults to get together to read, discuss, and share YA literature. No genre is excluded! (So long as it’s Young Adult.)
Regular meetings will be held on the 4th Sunday of every month, from 1:30pm – 3:00pm
There’s more to pencil drawing than outlined shapes and basic shading. Learn how pencil drawings can be exacting works of art. All ages and skill levels are welcome.

How many times have you said the words…I’d like to be an artist but…? As an art teacher I’ve heard many people say them many, many times. Most people love to draw as kids but give it up when they get older. This doesn’t mean they can’t do good art, it just means they haven’t learned how. As with any skill, learning the basics is important and teaching people basic art skills is my specialty.
I’m teaching a beginning art class called, Pencil Basics. In two hours you’ll gain valuable foundation art skills that will serve you well, whether you’re a beginning artist or looking to fill in your skills set.
Why wait to learn how to draw? You don’t have to. Tuesday night is right around the corner.
Weekly event on Wednesdays from 1:00 – 1:50 p.m.
Can I recycle this or that? Bring your questions to our recycling experts for a question & answer session on recycling. Learn about & how to make non-toxic cleaning recipes.
Historian Lorraine McConaghy will begin this program with an illustrated introduction to the war’s themes. She will follow that with a Readers’ Theater script, to be read aloud by willing participants. The script covers the period between Prohibition, beginning in 1914, through Seattle’s 1919 General Strike and the visit of President Woodrow Wilson.
