The Prairie Steppers invite you to a FREE Square Dance lesson on Tuesday Jan. 8, 2019. Lessons continue on Tuesdays from 7 to 9 PM at the Oakview Grange, 2715 North Pearl St. in Centralia for just $2.50 per lesson. Spencer Conley, known as “Big Coach,” is the CEO of his firm, Too Driven. He is the backbone of many outreach programs that influence students, coaches’ offices, boardrooms and family living rooms. He’s devoted to his purpose as well as to being a father, husband, community activist, humanitarian, leader and friend. Conley’s mission is to leave the world a better place and to continue to encourage her people to live a life that is “Too Driven” to do anything other than succeed.

On October 12, 1962, a windstorm fueled in part by the remains of Typhoon Freda struck the Pacific Northwest with deadly winds topping one hundred miles per hour.
The storm killed dozens, injured hundreds, damaged more than fifty thousand homes, and leveled enough timber to build one million homes. Join us for an author talk with John Dodge, former investigative reporter for The Olympian, as he reads passages from his new book about Typhoon Freda, “A Deadly Wind: The 1962 Columbus Day Storm.” This talk will include a slideshow and a question and answer session. A signing will follow the presentation, and copies of the book will be available for purchase.
The Annual Used Book Sale, sponsored by the Lewis County Branch of American Association of University Women (AAUW) features thousands of books, sorted by subject. Prices start at $3 for hardbacks and $2 for paperbacks and drop each day. After 3 p.m. Saturday, all books are $2 per bag.
