This community events calendar is the place to find fun activities and things to do throughout Lewis County, including Centralia, Chehalis and beyond.
Can I recycle this or that? Bring your questions to our recycling experts for a question & answer session on recycling. Learn about & how to make non-toxic cleaning recipes.
If you’ve tried composting unsuccessfully or you want to learn how to compost, this workshop is for you. Composting is part art and part science, kind of like baking a cake. We’ll demystify that process and help you get started producing good-quality compost for your garden and landscape.
Climb aboard for a leisurely Saturday train ride while the “Easter Bunny” and “Chicken Little” hide the eggs. Upon the return of the train, children (12 years and under) will go into the “egg field” to gather candy filled Easter Eggs! Many eggs will have prize tickets inside to be redeemed in the depot.

Hop from business to business in downtown Chehalis to hunt for Easter eggs. Get your picture taken with the Easter Bunny at the Lewis County Historical Museum.
Keep your eyes open on Easter Sunday, March 27th! The Bunny and her helpers will have eggs hidden all over the mountain. We expect to see them out from 9 am – Noon or whenever the last one if found!
Join us at Centralia College to celebrate Earth Day 2017! Events will take place from 10am -2pm in Walton Science Center and outside on the Esplanade at CC. It is FREE and open to the public. There will be free document shredding, styrafoam recycling, community vendors and Centralia College clubs, and events happening earlier in the week! Come donate old/used clothing and receive an Earth Day shirt, visit all the booths and be entered to win awesome prizes, gift cards and more!
Call to pre-register and to receive instructions on obtaining a soil sample prior to the workshop. If you want to grow better plants, you first need to understand the texture of your soil. Collect and bring in a sample of your soil and learn how to test for pH, Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium.
Vermiculture, or worm box composting, is a process in which red wiggler worms (also called manure worms) and micro-organisms are used to convert kitchen fruit and vegetable waste (peelings, etc.) into nutrient-rich humus. Gardens and potted plants become healthier and more robust with the addition of this “black gold”.
