Lewis County has received notice of $40,695 in federal funds to distribute to local organizations that operate emergency food and/or shelter programs.
These funds will have to be distributed to qualifying entities that: 1) are private, voluntary nonprofits or units of government, 2) are eligible to receive Federal funds, 3) have an accounting system, 4) practice non-discrimination, 5) have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs, and 6) if they are a private, voluntary organization, have a volunteer board.
The Phase 38 Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) funds are made available through the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency. Qualifying agencies are urged to apply. Individuals in need of assistance may not apply directly for funds; rather, services will be provided through local recipient organizations.
Public or private voluntary organizations interested in applying for Phase 36 EFSP funds should go to the LCPHSS website at https://lewiscountywa.gov/departments/public-health/ for the application. The submission deadline is 4 pm on February 19, 2021. Applications will only be accepted by e-mail to meja.handlen@lewiscountywa.gov.
