Students will explore possible engineering and medical careers through experiments, presentations and interactive trials led by experts from the University of Washington Engineers and Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine (ISCRM). This experience is sponsored by Providence Swedish and Timberline Bank. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available by contacting the foundation.
Those interested may register online. Students entering 9th-12th grade for the 2022-2023 school year from the Lewis County area are invited to attend. Apply now as space is limited to the first 100 applicants. Financial aid is available.
The Chehalis Foundation supports projects that benefit the city, the community and academic excellence in Chehalis schools. It is the organization’s mission to better the quality of life for the community while lessening financial burdens to taxpayers and government and providing opportunities for children.
The foundation started renovating local parks and recreation facilities and supporting civic improvements almost two decades ago. The foundation expanded its vision to include an educational component that first focused on the STEM programs at W.F. West High School and later the “Student Achievement Initiative.” The foundation’s role in the Student Achievement Initiative has contributed to a 96 percent graduation rate with 100 percent of those students being accepted to college. In the last seven years, Chehalis School District has increased the percentage of students enrolled in post-secondary institutions in the fall immediately after high school from 54 percent to 73 percent.
“The goal is to inspire and better prepare our kids for higher educational opportunities and to be creative thinkers. The success of the completed projects is incredible. They are a testament to what can be accomplished when you combine fantastic vision, committed leadership, focus and a very supportive community that shares the same vision,” says Chehalis Foundation Executive Director Jenny Collins.
Sponsor a student or students at $250 each or event sponsorships are available at $1000 and $2500. Contact Jenny Collins at 360.508.6572 or jennylyncollins@gmail.com.
The Foundation has contributed over $18 million in improvements to education, city parks and civic improvements.
