For the eighth year in a row, United Way of Lewis County will be participating in Giving Tuesday; a global movement dedicated to giving back, celebrating generosity, and inspiring charitable giving during the holiday season. Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday will take place on December 1 and will kick off the giving season by inspiring people to collaborate and give back. Giving Tuesday is simply about creating a day for everyone, everywhere, to come together to do good, improve our local community and give back in impactful ways. In total, contributions to United Way of Lewis County have exceeded $52,000.

Giving Tuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea: to create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

Giving Tuesday for United Way of Lewis County is very special and leads to large impacts in our community through the dollars raised on this day. Donations made to United Way on December 1 will be matched up to $5,000 by a very generous anonymous donor. This donor has been supporting United Way’s efforts on Giving Tuesday for the past five years.

“Participating in Giving Tuesday is about joining a movement for generosity, and there are so many ways to do that. Whether you give your voice, goods, your time, or your money. Being generous is a way to lift families out of poverty right here in Lewis County.” states Debbie Campbell, Executive Director of United Way of Lewis County.”

United Way of Lewis County invites the community to be part of this day of celebration, providing a platform for people to contribute to our community and help make this season the biggest giving season yet.
