Centralia Christian School will be hosting an informational night about its High School on Tuesday, May 4, at 6:30PM. This event is for parents of 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students throughout Lewis County who are interested in learning more about Christian education options for 9th and 10th grade. Middle and high school students are welcome to attend; childcare is available for younger children through pre-registration only. Our upcoming Find Work Friday on June 11th, 2021 from 1:30 – 3:30 PM will have a special focus on Youth and Student job opportunities. We have asked employers to indicate whether they offer paid internship opportunities, pay for formal job skills training, hire minor workers, or have entry level positions for job seeker who are 18 years or older. Youth and Student job seekers will be able to filter the employers based on the types of opportunities they offer during the live event. This will be the first virtual Youth and Student Focused Find Work Friday, but students are always welcome to attend any WorkSource virtual event.

On August 13, 1921 a road between Winlock and Cowlitz Corner was completed. There was a big celebration commemorating the event, and since Winlock was becoming quite a famous poultry center, they decided to call the celebration “Winlock Poultry and Egg Day.” There were about 1,000 people present at the celebration. Otis Roundtree was the General Chairman for the event. After the celebration, it was decided to make this an annual event, which was done.

Celebrate the 100th year of Egg Days on Friday, June 18 and Saturday, June 19 with a parade, vendors, entertainment, talent show, Egg Day royal coronation, car show, egg salad sandwiches and more.
Burnt Ridge Nursery founder Michael Dolan will lead a tour of our 20-acre organic fruit and nut orchard, with a focus on crops that ripen in the summer including blueberries, mulberries, and figs. Cultivation and propagation techniques will be discussed, as well as the specific characteristics of the varieties that do well here in the Pacific Northwest. Fruit samples and snacks will be provided to-go this year, and all events will be held outdoors in compliance with Washington state COVID guidelines. 2 tours: 10 am -noon and 1:30-3:30. Limit of 30 guests per tour. $15 per individual; $30 for a family (up to 4 people). Parking is limited, please carpool if possible. Hands On is the premier children’s museum in the PNW. Explore 150 interactive exhibits and a half-acre outdoor play space where kids can ride trikes, sluice for treasure, captain a vintage schooner, climb a giant boulder, and go up the lighthouse lookout.
Sensory-friendly Boo Bash activities will be offered during our regular Sensory Friendly Hour, October 24 & 31 at 9 a.m.
