Summer Splash Gala with a Twist @ Hands On Children's Museum

The Summer Splash! Gala moves the party online for the first time. Join us August 28th at 7 p.m. for 30-minute live-streamed event and a 7-Day Online Silent Auction August 21-28. Support the Power of Play! You can give a child the chance to create, tinker & invent right in their own homes! This year’s Gala will raise funds to support the Museum’s newest Access program – Interactive Fun Kits, a hands-on educational experience for children who are learning from home. Don’t miss this heartfelt program featuring special stories about the power of play from kids of all ages…and discover how the Museum is ensuring that every child can learn beyond the screen.

Join us to battle invasive plants along the trail. There is blackberry and tansy galore! Every pair of hands can help. The City will provide a disposal trailer….let’s fill it!
Masks required.
Please come prepared for the weather; leather gloves help with thorns. Maybe your favorite shovel, loppers, or clippers.
Drive into the barn parking area.

Join us to improve the riparian area along the Discovery Trail. This work party will remove invasive weeds; adults and older teens only. The work can be hard, but Oh so satisfying!
Bring your leather gloves if you have them, loppers, etc. Dress for the weather.
We will provide snacks, water and coffee; gloves if needed.

Masks required and social distancing.

Join us for a sensory-friendly Boo Bash experience. This is a special event for families of children with autism or other special needs to provide private, less over-stimulating time to experience the museum.

The Boo Bash Festival offers Halloween-inspired activities, costumes, and more without the fright! Explore a straw bale maze, press apples into cider, decorate a pumpkin and float it in the regatta, watch weird Dr. Science demos, silkscreen a treat bag, and more! Sponsored by Hanson Subaru.

Activities are FREE with Museum admission or membership. Online reservations required.

What: Earth Day Land Restoration and Trail Maintenance Event.
Snacks and drinking water will be available (bring your own bottle).
You must pre-register for this event; see the link below.

Where: Centralia’s Discovery Trail, at the end of Goodrich Rd, Centralia.
Parking for volunteers will be at the old barn (look for signs).

When: 9 AM until 12 Noon on Earth Day, Thursday, April 22nd, 2021.

The Chehalis River Basin Land Trust will be hosting an Earth Day land restoration and trail maintenance event along Centralia’s Discovery Trail from 9 am until noon on Earth Day, Thursday, April 22, 2021. (See: Discovery Trail along the Chehalis River (lewiscountytrails.org)) Please arrive early to sign the waiver.

We will be removing invasive plants, including Himalaya Blackberry vines. Sturdy gloves, long pants and long sleeves are recommended. We will have facemasks as well as some tools and gloves available at the site, but please feel free to bring your own preferred hardware for dealing with invasive plants.

Covid-19 Precautions:
The number of participants for this event will be limited due to Covid-19 concerns and restrictions. Face masks and social distancing will be required.
