Lewis County Stream Team is collaborating with Nicholle Stephens, a biologist with the Department of Fish and Wildlife, to learn more about native bats in Lewis County! Learn more about the benefits of bats for insect control. Find out how to create great habitat on your land. This is a free event.

Riparian Buffer Planting and Maintenance with Patrick Shults, WSU Extension (Walking Tour)
Join Lewis County Stream Team on Saturday, November 18th for an exciting in-person event where you’ll learn all about riparian buffer planting and maintenance! Led by the knowledgeable Patrick Shults from WSU Extension, this guided nature walk is a must for anyone interested in preserving and enhancing our natural environment.
Location: 266 Jefferies Road, Chehalis, WA, USA
Directions: From I-5 take State Route 6 West towards Pe Ell Raymond. Stay on SR 6 for two miles and take a right onto Chilvers Road. After one mile take a right onto Jeffries Road. Gravel parking lot will be marked and is on the right after Glenview Drive. Look for the Stream Team signs.

Native Amphibian Workshop with Lewis County Stream Team!
> Educational Workshop from 10:30AM-11:30AM at Chehalis Timberland Library (400 N Market Blvd)
> Wetland tour from 12:00-1:00PM at the City of Centralia ponds (Meet at North Gold Street & Ham Hill Rd in Centralia at the gravel parking lot)
Join WA Dept of Fish and Wildlife guest speakers Dr. Max Lambert, herpetologist and senior research scientist, and Julie Tyson, aquatic research biologist. Learn more about native amphibian species and habitat! After the talk, join us in the field to tour a local wetland. Learn how to identify amphibian egg masses and habitat requirements. Please bring rubber boots and hip waders if you have them. Please dress warm.

Dr. J H Roundtree (Mary Borst’s father) opened the first pharmacy in Centralia, “J H Roundtree’s “Drugs & Medicines in Centralia, WT (Washington Territory). Our 2 pm talk will be on who he was, where he was educated and his influence in our community. All are welcome to join us. Tour this wonderful historical site and bring friends/family.

Jean Bluhm is our Guest Speaker for May and will share about the rest of the Borst Family and community in her books: Joseph Borst Family Tree (1564 – 2022); The Borst Home Guide; Book 3 People who lived in … Borst Home Museum; and, Book 4 The Borst Museum Expanded. A deeper Look into the Past (on how the buildings help us see our past). Jean is always a pure delight.
