Thought about buying a handgun and don’t know what to look for? Own a handgun and not sure how to use it? Come learn the basics of handguns, how to grip them, how to use the sights, how to load and unload, how to stand and more. Come with questions and leave with answers. If you do not own a handgun, bring .22LR and/or 9mm Luger or Parabellum ammo and use one of the instructors firearms. Bring your firearm (or ammo if you do not own a firearm), the appropriate ammo for that firearm, eye/ear protection (I have extras of those too), a baseball cap and a notebook for note taking. We’ll discuss the wide world of unusual and underappreciated fruits, including quince, medlar, persimmon, mulberry and the elusive Sorbus domestica (aka “chocolate pear”). We will also talk about the benefits of planting rare trees and what you can do with the fruit.
In this first of three classes, we’ll talk about making herbal medicine that you take internally such as teas, tinctures, and flower essences. You will leave with an herbal remedy you have made yourself!

Reach the Beach Washington welcomes riders from across the PNW on September 30, 2023 to enjoy a fast and flat century ride starting in Lacey, WA and ending with a celebration on the beach in Westport, WA. Riders can choose distance options ranging from 25, 44, 77, or 100 miles.
This unique and challenging ride, is the signature event of the American Lung Association and supports our mission to prevent lung disease and help the millions of people who are affected by lung disease in the U.S.
Getting involved as a bike rider or as a fundraiser is a wonderful way to show your support for someone in your life who has been suffering with a lung disease or in memory of someone loss. Ride on your own or gather your family and friends to ride on a team together!

In part two of the herbal medicine making series, we will talk about external application of herbs. You will leave with an herbal remedy you have made yourself!
External applications can include infused oils, salves, liniments, lotions, gels, sprays, soaks, and more. Learn the difference between these and when one is more appropriate than the other.
We will make a remedy in class together. This is a great space to ask questions and grow your confidence as you learn to make beautiful, potent herbal remedies.

This is part 3 of the herbal medicine making series and one of the most unusual. Herbal medicine is more than drops from a bottle or a nice salve. Medicine is often in the fragrance of herbs – their volatile oils, and can be experienced through inhalation. We’ll talk about incense, steams, and smoking herbs, and when you would turn to these. You will leave with an aromatic herbal remedy you have made yourself.
