This community events calendar is the place to find fun activities and things to do throughout Lewis County, including Centralia, Chehalis and beyond.
Join us for a presentation that will cover the life of George Washington from being raised by his adopted white parents, Anna and James Cochran, to his travels across the country to the Pacific Northwest, where the Cochrans purchased the 640 acre homestead and deeded it to Washington.
This session will be the capstone event for “Learnings from the Chehalis.” Over the past 15 years, community volunteers, citizens, and government agencies have been putting effort in to making the Chehalis River clean and healthy for people, fish and wildlife. How well have we done? This session will look at progress made on water quality improvement, salmon habitat restoration, water conservation, and the impacts of regulations and policies.
Our capstone talk will be held by a panel from the Chehalis Basin Partnership. The Chehalis Basin Partnership was formed in 1998 to provide a framework for local citizens, interest groups, and government organizations to work collaboratively to identify and solve water-related issues. Come with questions!
Celebrating 70 years of Lewis County History at Yard Birds. There will be an extensive collection of Yard Birds memorabilia, photos, and audio/ visual displays to celebrate the 70 years since Yard Birds began in the Twin Cities. Plus, free popcorn (while supplies last).
We hope to see you at the Lewis County Historical Museum for our opening night festivities. Opening night is free, but donations are gladly accepted.
Pick up a world map and trace your family’s passage from your ancestral homeland to Salkum, with landing points along the way; then share them on display at the Library! Submissions may be posted to library social media.
Dine on wonderful foods from our local farms as you celebrate a season of growing, harvesting and friendship. Chef Jay Ryan cooks up a meal containing delicious ingredients from many of the Community Farmers Market at Chehalis’ vendors.
The dinner is buffet-style. A no-host bar is also available, and there will be a dessert auction and silent auction. Proceeds from the event benefit the Community Farmers Market.
Join us as we learn about “Analyzing your social media” a continuation from our last class. In this class, you will have access to a Chromebook where you can have hands-on training and learn about how to use Facebook’s “insights”. This class teaches us important marketing information for our business – Please RSVP as soon as you can to reserve your seat! Lunch is included for Chamber Members provided by TwinStar Credit Union.
