The Prairie Steppers invite you to a FREE Square Dance lesson on Tuesday Jan. 8, 2019. Lessons continue on Tuesdays from 7 to 9 PM at the Oakview Grange, 2715 North Pearl St. in Centralia for just $2.50 per lesson. Do good for your world on MLK day – help prepare the site for student planting.
This activity is for 14 years and older. We will be working at the north end of the trail. Our goal is to open planting holes in the reed canary grass; suggested tools include garden clippers or hedge trimmer, long sharp knife, weed-eater. Three weed-eaters available to loan.
Come for an hour or more, dress for the weather, bring your own gloves. Hot water, donuts and coffee will be provided.

On October 12, 1962, a windstorm fueled in part by the remains of Typhoon Freda struck the Pacific Northwest with deadly winds topping one hundred miles per hour.
The storm killed dozens, injured hundreds, damaged more than fifty thousand homes, and leveled enough timber to build one million homes. Join us for an author talk with John Dodge, former investigative reporter for The Olympian, as he reads passages from his new book about Typhoon Freda, “A Deadly Wind: The 1962 Columbus Day Storm.” This talk will include a slideshow and a question and answer session. A signing will follow the presentation, and copies of the book will be available for purchase.
