This community events calendar is the place to find fun activities and things to do throughout Lewis County, including Centralia, Chehalis and beyond.
The ten entrance fee-free days for 2017 will be:
- January 16: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- February 20: Presidents Day
- April 15-16 & April 22-23: National Park Week Weekends
- August 25: National Park Service Birthday
- September 30: National Public Lands Day
- November 11-12: Veterans Day Weekend
Parade followed by 20th anniversary celebration at the Veterans Memorial Museum with music from Bellarain, Bart and Grace Notes. Dinner catered by Bonanza BBQ.

New and old NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) participants are invited to join these weekly write-ins! Meet other local writers, discuss your ideas or plug away at those 50,000 words. Light refreshments provided by the Friends of the Centralia Timberland Library.
Join in a Discussion of “Americanah” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. This program is part of a year-long series of book discussions exploring black history and culture to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of African American pioneer George Washington, who, together with his wife Mary Jane, founded the City of Centralia in 1875.

The Polar Express™ trains feature the reading of the popular book “The Polar Express”™ during the trek to the North Pole, where we will pick up Santa for the return trip. Each child will be given the first gift of Christmas by Santa on the way back to the depot. Children are encouraged to come in their pajamas like in the movie. There will be cocoa and cookies provided on board, as well as singing and other entertainment. Train ride is approximately 1 hour.
