This community events calendar is the place to find fun activities and things to do throughout Lewis County, including Centralia, Chehalis and beyond.
The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission invites people to celebrate National Public Lands Day with a free visit to Washington’s state parks.
At Rainbow Falls State Park, join Ranger Kathy Jacobson on a short walk to learn about the Chehalis River, the history of Rainbow Falls, and the Civilian Conservation Corps. Please meet at the picnic shelter in the day use area. Dress for the weather, as the program will be held rain or shine.
Free days apply only to day use access by vehicle, not to overnight stays or rented facilities.
Willamette Valley Wool will be at the store with a trunk show! Lynette has beautiful yarns and fibers!
Two local designers (Jennifer Denney and Rachel McSweeney) will also be at the store with patterns for you to purchase and samples for you to touch and feel. There will be a free knit pattern or a free crochet pattern for you at each store.
There will be a $35 gift certificate given away each day of the yarn crawl at each store. If you go to all 8 stores, you will receive a “finishing” prize and be entered for an additional $100 gift certificate (drawing to be held on Monday, Oct 2).
Dine on wonderful foods from our local farms as you celebrate a season of growing, harvesting and friendship. Chef Jay Ryan cooks up a meal containing delicious ingredients from many of the Community Farmers Market at Chehalis’ vendors.
The dinner is buffet-style. A no-host bar is also available, and there will be a dessert auction and silent auction. Proceeds from the event benefit the Community Farmers Market.
Speakers on a wide range of topics—join us in learning. Drop in for individual lectures, or register for the series. Contact Centralia College East for the lecture schedule and to register. More details to be announced!

Hosted by the Shelton Skookum Rotary Club Foundation and attended by thousands, OysterFest is home to the West Coast Oyster Shucking Championships and is Washington State’s official seafood festival.
The festival also features a popular cook-off, hands-on water quality exhibits, and is itself a giant a food pavilion with nearly 100 unique items on the menu: BBQ oysters, fritters, spring rolls, garlic shrimp, fresh cider and so much more. Better yet, your culinary adventure supports about 100 local non-profit service clubs and organizations, as well as funding scholarships and local community improvement projects.
Live music, a community parade, a run/walk, harvest dinner, pie eating contests, vendors, pancake breakfast and more serve as centerpieces of the festival. And you can’t leave out the most important part of the event: the apples themselves. Students involved with the National FFA Organization help community members press apples into cider.
Hosted by the Packwood Improvement Club, the fair features local vendors with homemade crafts; jewelry, towels, candles, plants, ceramics, gems, upscale decor, jams, homemade cookies made by the seniors, honey, this and thats, and more. Free coffee is available and light refreshments will be available for purchase.
