Freshwater Mussel and Lamprey Talk @ Stan Hedwall Park

Learn about freshwater mussels and lamprey in the Chehalis Basin at this educational workshop! Join Biologists Curt Holt (WDFW) and Teal Waterstrat (USFWS) to learn about these lesser-known, fascinating species. Both mussels and lamprey play a key role in the ecosystem of the rivers and streams and have a rich history in the Pacific Northwest. Learn about the challenges they are facing to survive and how you can help them! This event is free and family friendly.

Women’s Only Basic Pistol Class @ Centralia Rifle Club & Junior Divison

School has started and now is the time to educate yourself on firearm safety. Come learn firearm safety rules, how a handgun functions, how to load it, clear jams, trigger press, sight alignment, stance and more. Class size is limited to 6 attendees so register early. Don’t own a firearm yet, no problem, just bring 9mm Luger/Parabellum and/or .22LR to use in one of the handguns I have. Eye and ear protection is required, but I have extra of those if you do not have them. A baseball cap is also required. The fee is $85 which includes a $30 non-refundable deposit. Reach the Beach Washington Cycling Event

Greetings! If you’re looking for a ride on September 24, the Reach the Beach WA cycling event offers four starting points: Lacey 100 mile, Olympia 78 mile, Elma 44 mile, Aberdeen 24 mile and ends at Westport.

To participate in this event, registration costs $45 and a minimum of $150, which includes four fully supported rides, two complimentary meals, medical care, and other benefits.

Provided is a basic route, subject to change based on road conditions.

Discovery Trail – September Work Party @ Chehalis River Discovery Trail, Centralia

The Chehalis River Basin Land Trust will hold a Work Party at the Chehalis River Discovery Trail, near Centralia, from 9 a.m. until noon, on Tuesday, September 27, 2022. We’ll be removing invasive plants from areas near the trail.
The Discovery Trail is at 1545 Goodrich Rd., Centralia. Follow the event signs to parking near the old red barn. Water, snacks, and other cold drinks will be provided (please bring your own bottle for water.).
Please dress for the weather and bring sturdy work gloves and footwear. We will have some garden tools and gloves available at the site but feel free to bring your own hand tools.
