This community events calendar is the place to find fun activities and things to do throughout Lewis County, including Centralia, Chehalis and beyond.
Become a Certified NRA Range Safety Officer by taking this class. Learn how to spot trouble on a shooting range and what to do about it. Help keep others safe.
Students will arrive at 8:30 to fill out paperwork and for class handouts.
Students will need to bring their NRA card or a copy, pen, pencil, paper, snacks, drinks. Coffee and water will be provided.
We will break for lunch, 30 mins to 1 hour depending on time.
Cost is $75.00 full tuition, $25 deposit, non-refundable (so I can order books) balance of $50 (cash) is due at the beginning of class. Contact Charles at neelycw@comcast.net for information on making the deposit.
Deposit must be received by February 1st in order to be in class. (I won’t have any extra materials, I will be ordering just the number needed for class.)

Work Party at the Chehalis River Discovery Trail
Saturday, March 26th from 9 am ‘til 12:00 noon

What: Discovery Trail Work Party to repair recent flood damage.
Snacks and drinking water will be available (bring your own bottle).
Due to hazards left by the floods, this event is not suitable for young children.
You must pre-register for this event. See instructions below.
Where: Chehalis River Discovery Trail, 1545 Goodrich Rd, Centralia. Parking for high
ground clearance vehicles will be at the old barn (follow the signs). Rides will
be provided as needed from the trail’s regular lot at the treatment plant.
When: 9 AM until 12:00 noon, Saturday, March 26th, 2022. Masking is optional.
Please join Chehalis River Basin Land Trust volunteers, the Great Old Broads and others as we work to repair recent flood damage along the Discovery Trail. (See: Discovery Trail along the Chehalis River (lewiscountytrails.org) Please arrive early to sign the waiver.
Sturdy gloves and suitable work clothes are recommended. We will have some garden tools and gloves available at the site. Please feel free to bring your own hand tools if you’d like.

All are invited to join the Lewis County Stream Team for tree planting along Mill Creek! We are planting to improve water quality and salmon habitat. Come learn about stream restoration, beavers, and salmon. Work gloves, shovels, and snacks provided. Please wear appropriate footwear. Where: 266 Jeffries Road, Chehalis. From I-5 take State Route 6 West towards Pe Ell. Turn right on Chilvers Rd. Turn right on Jeffries Rd. Gravel parking lot is marked on the right after Glenview Drive. Look for salmon signs.

At this FREE workshop, you’ll learn how to garden in a small space. The Square Foot Gardening class will be taught by expert gardeners, Lewis County Master Gardeners! You’ll learn what plants grow well in small spaces, as well as information on soil, compost, fertilizing, planting, weeding, ongoing maintenance of your square foot garden and harvesting your garden bounty.
Square Foot Garden Workshop will be held at Borst Master Gardener’s Demo Garden, on Saturday, April 23rd, 10am.

Celebrate Earth Day! Work party at Borst Park on Saturday, April 23rd with Lewis County Stream Team and Noxious Weed Control.
What: Learn about noxious weeds and riparian zone management from professional guest speakers, take part in removing invasive Italian arum and replanting native species. Snacks, shovels, and work gloves will be provided. This is a great opportunity to see the changes at the park, connect with your community and give back to the environment for Earth Day 2022.
Where: Borst Park, 2030 Borst Ave, Centralia, WA 98531. Meet near the Borst Home located past the baseball fields.
When: Saturday, April 23rd from 10AM – 3PM.
What to Bring: Long sleeves and work boots are recommended. Optional to bring your own shovels and hand tools.
Who: Sponsored by Lewis County Noxious Weed Board, Centralia City Parks, Lewis County Stream Team, Master Gardeners, and Borst Arboretum Botanical Society. Native plants were donated by Buds and Blades Landscape Company.
