KNKX’s year-long reporting project, KNKX Connects, comes to Lewis County with a live broadcast at Jeremy’s Farm to Table in Chehalis on August 30 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. hosted by Ed Ronco. The station kicked off the project in June with a focus on Port Angeles and surrounding communities. KNKX Connects is designed to increase local and regional news coverage and expand its role in communities across Western Washington, with the goal of presenting deep, rich storytelling and live broadcasts from these communities on a regular basis. KNKX Connects will take advantage of the station’s large broadcast footprint, which extends from Bellingham to Vancouver, Washington.

Following the live broadcast, KNKX will present live music from jazz flugelhornist and Centralia resident Dmitri Matheny at Jeremy’s Farm to Table from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.  Both activities are free and open to the public.

Much like Port Angeles, KNKX Connects to Centralia and Chehalis will highlight local issues and life, and present a wide range of stories that reflect what makes the communities unique, from diverse voices. In addition to exploring the news of the day, the local stories include an interview with Centralia native and professional opera singer Angela Meade; we ride the rails in Chehalis to learn about how trains shaped these communities and continue to have a major impact; and we revisit the legacy of George Washington, the son of a slave who founded Centralia in 1875.

Jeremy’s Farm to Table is located at 576 W. Main Street in Chehalis.
