The Lewis County Writers Guild presents the annual Southwest Washington Writers Conference on Saturday, September 7 in the Walton Science Center on the Centralia College Campus.

This conference is the only forum of its kind available for local writers between Tacoma and Portland which is focused on the craft of writing. The conference has always donated proceeds to local non-profits but this is the first year proceeds will go to establish student scholarships at Centralia College.

“Ultimately, it is the Guild’s goal to utilize the conference to bring quality speakers to the area to encourage and instruct area writers,” said Pat Thompson, president of the Lewis County Writers Guild. “But, there is also a long-term objective to establish scholarships at the college so we can, as a community, assist students who might otherwise not be able to realize a dream because of finances. This is, by far, the most important objective of the conference.”

Registration is now open on the website.

The Lewis County Writers Guild meets Fridays at the Station Coffee Bar & Bistro, 120 S Tower Avenue in Centralia, WA. Social time starts around 5:00 p.m. and the meeting begins around 5:30 p.m. Newcomers are always welcome and encouraged.
