Chehalis is gearing up to celebrate summer! The Chehalis Community Renaissance Team will host ChehalisFest on July 28. This event features activities for kids and families, car fanatics and folks of all ages throughout the day in locations across the community.
The day kicks off with the annual blueberry pancake breakfast at the Lewis County Historical Museum at 8:00 a.m. Breakfast is $6 per person; kids age seven and under are free. A hot dog lunch is served from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. for $3. Also at the museum, the Bethel Church KidZone will keep kids happy and busy with bouncy houses, an obstacle course, cotton candy and more. Kids will rave about the Young Eagles flights offered free to kids ages eight to 17 at the Chehalis Airport from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Along with the airplane rides, the Scrap Metal VW Club will be hosting the Midway Meet Car Show at 10:00 a.m. at the airport. Another stop for car enthusiasts will be at the Veterans Memorial Museum for the Chehalis Roll-In, a gathering of Volvo fanatics.
New this year, take the kids to Whitworth Way outside Westminster Presbyterian Church for games and fun including a watermelon seed spitting contest sponsored by Sweet Inspirations, bubble fun, balloon animals and more! Also new to the ChehalisFest line-up is Fun Around the Fountain at the Vernetta Smith Chehalis Timberland Library. Listen to music by the Salzer Creek Band who will be performing on the library steps while kids participate in outdoor games and activities sponsored by the Friends of the Chehalis Library.
Downtown Chehalis will be buzzing with summer fun! Shops and boutiques will offer incredible discounts and sidewalk sales, beer sampling, game tournaments and more. From sweet to savory, new this year, food trucks and vendors will fill Boistfort Street, so come hungry! Pick up your Where’s Bigfoot Passport at Book N Brush, join the search, and redeem your passport for a coupon and entry into a drawing for great prizes! Vendors downtown including our local ARTrails artists will offer specialty goods and locally crafted items. Always a crowd favorite, the Chariots Car Club will hold their 11th Annual Car Show from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and The Backfire Band will take the stage from noon to 4:00 p.m. singing the best of classic rock and country tunes.
