Get ready for STEM Camp! W. F. West has partnered with University of Washington and Centralia Community College to bring you not one, but two summer STEM camps! The cost per camp is $50. Students entering grades 9-12 can select either camp or both. Each camp offers two full days here at WFW, a full-day field trip to the UW campus and a fourth day at Centralia College. If you’re interested in learning the most cutting-edge technologies within either of these fields, please join us this summer for a STEM camp you won’t forget! Space is limited to 60 participants per camp so get your registration in early to secure your spot.

Michael B. Bragg is dean of the University of Washington’s College of Engineering. He taught aerodynamics and flight mechanics at The Ohio State University and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign before joining University of Washington. Though his research has taken him into hypersonics, engine work, wind turbines, sonic boom mitigation and other fields, he has nationally recognized and sought-after expertise in airplane icing and unsteady aerodynamics. Bragg’s work in aerodynamics has advanced air travel making it safer of all of us.
Dr. Bragg and his team are providing the first of two summer STEM camps hosted by W. F. West High School (July 30-Aug. 1). This engineering focused camp will engage students in the gravity car design process including computer design, prototyping, 3D printing while developing core engineering skills.
Dr. Charles (Chuck) Murry is currently a professor of Pathology, Bioengineering and Medicine/Cardiology. He serves as Director of the Center for Cardiovascular Biology and Interim Director of the Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine. In addition to running his research laboratory, he practices diagnostic cardiovascular pathology and is extensively involved in teaching medical students and graduate students at the University of Washington.

Murry is a native of North Dakota and did his undergraduate work in chemistry at Bismarck Junior College and the University of North Dakota. He obtained his MD and PhD degrees from Duke University in 1989 and 1988, respectively.
Dr. Murry’s team is providing the second STEM camp (Aug 6-8), which focuses on molecular and cellular biology, stem cell and developmental biology, anatomy, physiology and regenerative medicine.
Both camps offer two full days at W. F. West High School, a full-day field trip to the UW campus and a joint full-day (Aug. 9) at Centralia College. Each day brings students the most cutting-edge technologies within their respective fields.
