Lughnasadh: Honoring of Community @ Sacred Spiral Sanctuary | Ethel | Washington | United States

The wheel has turned again and brought us to the time of the first harvest. Join us as the story of Lugh is woven and the beginnings of this celebration are revealed. Join us for the gathering of the tribes as we celebrate with food, community and weave intentions into a web of our own making.

We are a community, a group of people, alike yet different. There’s no shame in depending on each other. There’s heroism in ordinariness and connectedness and using relationship skills to get through difficult times. Look at the things in your living room or refrigerator and realize they were made by thousands of people on different continents. We are all interconnected. What one does affects the others, either positively or negatively. If the web is plucked, it sends ripples out in all directions, but as long as the strands remain intact, the web will not fall apart. We are individuals, strong in our own right. Yet there is a special strength, a bond when many people come together to weave intentions.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to make pickles? Well, you are in luck, as the activity we are going to do to celebrate the first harvest as a community is making pickles. No prior experience is necessary. We will have a donation box to cover the cost of the ingredients and the canning jars.

What you need to bring:

As this is a potluck, you will need to bring a potluck dish. Please post the dish that you are bringing so they are not duplicated. As this is a first harvest festival, think of the bounty of this time of year such as fruits and vegetables from your garden. If you have special dietary needs make sure to bring something that you can eat in case others do not. I will be providing the main meat dish and a couple of gallons of tea as well as flavored waters.
Two quart-sized canning jars with lids.
You should bring a chair as there are limited ones here to sit in the circle with.
Please bring a cup for toasting.
A drum circle always follows so please bring your drums, your noisemakers and your voices and sing them strong.
Looking forward to meeting new friends and greeting old ones… Welcome to the Sanctuary.
