Beginning Square Dance Lessons @ Lac-A-Do Hall

This social, family-friendly class gets your body and mind moving in a fun atmosphere. By the end of ten weeks you will have learned the basics of modern square dancing – the same moves used in thousands of square dance club dances and dance events throughout the world. You’ll be dancing at the very first lesson. Couples, families and singles are all welcome. Bring your Redneck vehicles, big or little, rusty or shiny, loud or quiet, and join Team Laugh Out Loud for a fun-filled afternoon. Prizes for Biggest, Loudest, Most Redneck, Least Redneck and People’s Choice, and a kids’ “vehicle” division.

Lots of activities for the kids: sunflower seed spitting contest, kiddie tractor pull, sack races, tug-o-war, candy walk and more. Vendors, music and a silent auction. Proceeds this year to benefit The Cat’s Meow, low and no-cost spay/neuter services, and socialization and adoption of feral kittens.

Burnt Ridge Nursery founder Michael Dolan will lead a tour of our 20-acre organic fruit and nut orchard, with a focus on crops that ripen in the summer including blueberries, mulberries, and figs. Cultivation and propagation techniques will be discussed, as well as the specific characteristics of the varieties that do well here in the Pacific Northwest. Fruit samples and snacks will be provided to-go this year, and all events will be held outdoors in compliance with Washington state COVID guidelines. 2 tours: 10 am -noon and 1:30-3:30. Limit of 30 guests per tour. $15 per individual; $30 for a family (up to 4 people). Parking is limited, please carpool if possible. Plants, produce, and preserves from our farm will be available to purchase after each tour. Tickets at www.burntridgenursery.com or 360-985-2873.
