Submitted by Washington State Department of Transportation

In response to a request from the Forest Service, WSDOT is mobilizing crews to prepare to close both directions of US 12 between Skate Creek Road in Packwood and the top of White Pass. Smoke from the Goat Rocks Fire wildfire burning near Packwood is making visibility difficult since the fire grew significantly due to weather conditions.

Crews are also working to close the full length of SR 123 between SR 410 and US 12.

With the potential need for evacuations in the area, local traffic is allowed.

Commercial vehicles are prohibited in the Mount Rainier National Park.

Travelers should avoid the area.
