Exhibit booths are being dressed up and finishing touches are being made to landscaping on the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds in anticipation of the opening of the Fair on Tuesday.

Sixty-seven employees and 371 volunteers are working behind the scenes to make the Fair an enjoyable community celebration. Lewis County Commissioners thanked fairgrounds workers for their commitment to the Fair.

Fair Manager Connie Riker told her employees and volunteers at an appreciation luncheon that the work they have been doing is important to the community.

“I could not pull this off without you guys working as incredibly hard as you’re working, and I wanted to let you know now that you’re all so valuable to this project (the Fair) and the work that you have done is going to be appreciated,” said Riker.

Eighteen-year fairgrounds Events Coordinator Pat Slusher said, “It’s a wonderful feeling to bring the people of the county here, to do things that they enjoy, and to eat.”

The Southwest Washington Fair, at 1909 S. Gold St. in Chehalis, runs August 16-21. The Fair is open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. Check out more here.
