Since 2007, Penrose & Associates Physical Therapy has provided the service and space that allows for the type of patient care clients deserve—being heard, flexible scheduling, and communication.

“When you choose to do physical therapy with me, you’re in good hands,” shares owner Jennifer Penrose, who notes the entire team, from her assistants to the front office staff who handle scheduling and paperwork, know each patient’s individual plan.

“We provide effective care and evidence-based care,” she asserts. “Our goal is to get people better faster.”

Part of the reason Penrose started her own business was because she sympathized with patients who didn’t feel listened to. The company’s motto and philosophy is: “Listening to patients. Achieving lifelong results,” which resonates with patients.

“I’ve always appreciated the togetherness of the Penrose staff, working in unity to offer such a variety of services to assist you in the healing and strengthening process,” says one patient, Tom A.

Penrose explains her team’s approach. Instead of patients coming in three times a week for one year, for example, she encourages patients to come in perhaps one time per week, equipping them with exercises to do on their own time. As they progress at home, the patient simply returns to Penrose & Associates Physical Therapy, gains more tools and techniques to move forward, until results are achieved. (Of course if the injury is severe, she reminds, then a more hands-on approach may be needed.)

Penrose & Associates Physical Therapy practitioners treat dozens of ailments, from osteoporosis to muscle injury and everything in between. When someone is in pain, Penrose wants people to “think physical therapy first.”

They even customize to lifestyles, from sports injuries to pain associated with desk jobs. Penrose is a trusted therapist in the community, so if a patient’s treatment is needed from a different resource, she has an array of references at her fingertips.

Penrose’s philosophy includes recognizing the body functions as a whole. If she’s treating foot pain, for example, she’ll take video of a person walking, then study the gait, posture, and other indicators of imbalance and treat each part accordingly.

“You can do much of the work at home,” she says. “We are flexible with people on their plan. If there is a condition that needs extra focus, I’ll do that, but sometimes it’s more like I’m a consultant.”

In high school, Penrose discovered that she wanted to help others heal through physical therapy. She suffered a back injury while playing tennis that was so severe, it stopped her from even standing up without pain.

“I was crawling around, hardly able to get dressed,” Penrose recalls. But her treatment through physical therapy exercises allowed her to travel and play in the state tournament.

“I was pretty much hooked after that,” she shares. “That was very much the moment I knew that this is what I wanted to do—to be that person for other people.”

Another tool the team offers the community is patient education, such as low back pain classes and runner’s workshops. Orthotics, personal training, and massage therapies are among the other services Penrose & Associates Physical Therapy provides.

Penrose has been a physical therapist in the community since 2001, speaking at and attending seminars on her work, and practicing closely with orthopedic surgeons and physicians.
