Submitted by Southwest Washington Junior Livestock Sale Committee
With the canceling of the Southwest Washington Fair, the Southwest Washington Junior Livestock Sale Committee (SWJLSC) has made the decision to proceed with its 52nd annual sale.
The sale will be held Saturday, August 22, 2020, at the Chehalis Livestock Market, with the time to be determined later. Area youth will market their 4-H and FFA projects in beef, dairy, hogs, lambs, goats, turkeys, fryers, and rabbits. This will be a great opportunity for the public to purchase locally-raised meat while supporting youth. Projects will need to meet quality and safety standards to be eligible for sale as in the past. The committee will facilitate the processing of the projects for buyers’ home consumption, as well as provide floor prices for buyers not wanting to own the animals but to support local youth. There are many details that the SWJLSC is continuing to work on, with much being dependent on what restrictions the state, county and local health authorities have enacted at the time of the sale.
Our community has been an amazing supporter of the Junior Livestock Sale and the youth of Lewis County in past years, and we hope that this event continues to show what a great community we live in.
