Take a mystery, add romance, suspense and a pinch of Shakespeare – this book is a treat.

Pacific Northwest mystery writer Ellie Alexander is the talent behind the popular “Bakeshop Mysteries.” Alexander will introduce the third in the series, “On Thin Icing,” at the Chehalis Timberland Library on Saturday, May 14 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. A local baker will provide treats inspired by the book.

Like the first two novels, “On Thin Icing” is set in Ashland, Oregon, home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Besides page-turning suspense, the books give readers a taste of Shakespeare, the charm of Ashland, and original, handcrafted recipes for pastries and sweets.

The Portland Book Review deems it “grand theater”:

“The author has baked up a delectable tale of murder and intrigue, as well as tasty pies, puddings, and pastries. This Whodonut … er, Whodunit, is well spiced with sweet treats and artisan coffee, enough to keep the reader guessing (and happy) with every turn.”

The first two books in the series are “Meet Your Baker” and “A Batter of Life and Death.” All three books are available at The Timberland Regional Library.

All Timberland Regional Library programs are free and open to the public.

The Chehalis Timberland Library is located at 400 N. Market Blvd. For more information, call the library at 360-748-3301 or visit www.TRL.org.
